About FarAway
FarAway started with one person: a 17-year-old who has lived with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder. The days with racing thoughts, the nights that wouldn't end, the constant feeling of being too much and not enough at the same time — they were real, and they were lonely.
After searching for a place to just say what was happening without explaining, justifying or performing, it became clear that most spaces asked for too much: a real name, a profile picture, a diagnosis, proof that you were struggling "enough."
FarAway was built to be the opposite. A place where you can show up exactly as you are — anxious, overwhelmed, numb, angry, hopeful, tired — and be met with warmth instead of judgment.
Built from lived experience
Every feature here was designed around what actually helps in a hard moment: talking it out, grounding quickly, knowing you are not the only one, and having a plan before the crisis hits.
Anonymous by default
You are never required to share your real identity. Your alias is generated automatically, and your journal, moods and safety plan are visible only to you.
Professional support, simulated for now
The Professionals directory is populated with realistic demo profiles for this hackathon so you can see how the feature will look and feel. No live doctors or clinicians are on board yet, but as FarAway grows we plan to bring verified mental-health professionals onto the platform.
A safe harbor
The name FarAway is a reminder: you are allowed to step back from the noise. You are allowed to breathe. You are allowed to need help.
What we are not — yet
We are not an emergency service. We are not a clinic. We do not diagnose, prescribe or provide therapy through FarAway today. If you are in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line in your country.
The Professionals directory currently shows realistic demo profiles so the hackathon experience feels complete. They are not real providers and are not offering live consultations. Our goal is to eventually onboard verified mental-health professionals onto FarAway so anonymous peer support can sit alongside trusted clinical care.
We do not make claims about numbers of professionals, users or success rates. FarAway is young, honest and growing carefully — because mental health spaces should be built with care, not hype.
"You don't have to be okay to belong here."
